Hi there! I’m Stephen H. Springer, the founder of K-9 Technical Solutions, and my journey to dog training wasn’t born in a traditional classroom—it was forged through service, psychology, and a life-changing rescue dog named Reagan.
As a 7-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran, I know a thing or two about structure, discipline, and leadership. In the military, I trained people to excel under pressure. Later, working as a counselor for the State of California, I coached and mentored hundreds of human clients to successful breakthroughs. I also served as a disaster preparedness instructor and presenter with the American Red Cross, educating individuals, families, and communities on how to plan for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. In that role, I focused on presenting actionable, step-by-step, and affordable ways for community members to build emergency kits, create evacuation plans, and effectively manage disaster stress. Along the way, I realized my true calling involved applying these exact skills—breaking down complex plans into simple, actionable steps and managing high-stress environments—to four legs instead of two.
I grew up surrounded by big dogs, and those early, hands-on childhood lessons quietly shaped my entire approach to training. To back up that lifelong intuition, I dove headfirst into the science of behavior. I’ve devoured thousands of hours of dog training footage and built an extensive personal library of books authored by the world’s top trainers and behaviorists. I even studied psychology during my business courses, unlocking a deep understanding of how brains—both human and canine—actually learn, process stress, and adapt.
My real training evolution began with Reagan, my rescued Belgian Malinois. I poured everything I knew into him, personally training and preparing him to pass the rigorous AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluation. From there, we took it a step further. For three years, I volunteered with the incredible non-profit 4 Paws 4 Patriots, where I successfully qualified Reagan as an official service dog. We were so successful that the organization asked me to come on board to help other veterans do the same!
During my time there, I worked with every type of dog imaginable—from pint-sized toy breeds to massive, intense working dogs. I created custom training agendas and implemented creative, technical skills that produced immediate, real-world results.
I have a natural gift for looking through a dog's "mind's eye" to truly see the world from their perspective. This work has made me a more open-minded person and completely transformed how I communicate. Today, my mission is simple: I want to help you understand your dog, speak their language, and completely eliminate the stress on both sides of the leash.
When I’m not training, you can usually find me camping or backpacking in the great outdoors. And no matter where I go, Reagan is right by my side. He was a rescue, but I truly believe God put us on a shared path as a divine connection. In a very real way, we saved each other—and now, we’re here to help you and your pup do the same.
